Wedding and bouquet flowers
Wedding flowers can be arranged for your special day as soon as you have
decided on the colours and themes for your wedding. It’s a good idea to
coordinate all aspects of your wedding, from the dresses to the invites,
from the reception venue to the flowers. The bridal bouquet flowers are
the finishing touches to any wedding and creating them with all other
aspects of your big day in mind will ensure they create the perfect effect.
Most flowers are now available all year round, although some flowers
do have a definite seasonal availability. The most popular flowers
for wedding designs are Roses, and these come in a range of colours
and sizes, so there is sure to be a colour to compliment your chosen
scheme. Red roses are a true romantic favourite and the addition
of roses to any of your bouquets will give a classic romantic feel.
Lilys are also a popular choice, and as with roses, these are available
in a variety of colours and types. Oriental lilies are available
in pinks, whites, creams, cerise and two tone. Asiatic lilys are
a smaller headed flower and are available in white, cream, pink,
peach, yellow and orange. Calla lilys or Zantedishia lilys are a
firm favourite with brides and can achieve a really modern feel.
Because of their simple form they are classic bouquet flowers which
can make for an exceptionally striking bouquet. They are available
in different sizes, and come in cream, white, lemon, pink, peach,
purple and orange/gold.
There are two main types of bridal bouquets, hand-tied style and
bouquets made into a holder, these can be shower/teardrop styles
or posies, or modern designs. Hand-tied bouquets can be over the
arm styles, all-round posy styles, trailing waterfall styles and
simple, limited flower styles. Either type of bouquets can be the
same for the bride and smaller ones for the bridesmaids, or the
bride can have a different style bouquet to the bridesmaids.
For the bride’s flowers, it is often popular to include some diamantes,
crystals or jewels into some of the flowers, if the bride has such
details on her dress, it adds a special detail to the main bouquet.
The bridesmaids can also have some included and even the grooms
buttonhole, to compliment the other flowers.
Hand-tied bouquets, can be finished with a ribbon bow to match
the dresses and flowers, or raffia/ribbon band, or the stems can
be bound partway or fully with ribbon, which is very popular, this
can be finished with diamante or pearl pin detail.
A key component of wedding flowers, buttonholes are usually provided
for the main wedding party, such as groom, best man, ushers, mothers
and fathers. These are usually created to compliment the bridal
bouquets, with roses and calla lilys being popular choices for these
people. Carnations are a good choice for other guests. Some people
prefer neutral colours so they will match any outfit, while others
prefer their favourite flowers, such as orchids or freesia which
can be mixed colours.
